Welcome and please make yourself comfortable.
I think that one of the most tragic mistakes one can make is to do something for the wrong reason.
In this very specific case: starting a company blog and even more specifically starting AGŌ Games’ blog.
In this very specific case, the worst reason I could think of would be to follow this web 2.0 creed according to which every company should try to pretend to share everything with its audience, turn its consumers into consumactors and go frolicking with them on the strawberry fields of community love. Well, maybe that was last year and now it’s something else and I haven’t read the last book by some web-entrepreneur turned web-marketing guru after his start-up went bankrupt.
Instead of delving further into that, I’d rather tell you why I decided to start this blog.
1) To tell you things that I wouldn’t tell you on our corporate website
Yes, that’s right, even that. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, see what I mean?
More seriously this blog is here for us to discuss some things, elaborate on others and provide some bits of exclusive news when we can afford to share some exciting content.
If I had to summarize the whole deal I would say that it will always offer some kind of expanded behind-the-scenes -look at what is going on at the studio. I can’t promise that it will be a post-fest each week but I’ll try to keep this blog as relevant and exciting as possible. And if I can’t, I’ll just close the whole thing and throw away the key.
2) Because we need you!
The Blues Brothers taught us that everybody needs somebody but it is even more true when it comes to AGŌ Games. As you are probably aware, we are a small independent video games studio hoping to do things a bit differently economically as well as creatively. We will succeed first if we don’t screw it up ourselves and second if we can find people who share all or some of our values that will support us and tell their friends and grandmas how awesome we are.
This blog will be the place where we will try to give you a better idea of who we are and what we stand for. If you don’t like what you find, that’s okay because at least you will know that AGŌ Games is not staffed by robots in human disguise remotely controlled by friendly corporate vampires which almost counts as a feat these days.
Having said that, I wish you the best and hope that you will stick around or at least take some time to write from time to time.
